On June 9, 2006, Michael Sterling and co-producer  Tony Monsour opened Sterling's Upstairs at Vitello's in Studio City, CA. Known for presenting the best of Broadway stars, regional Broadway performers, and Nightclub artists in concert, Mr. Sterling dedicated the club to his longtime friend and mentor, the great Rosemary Clooney.  Having road managed Ms. Clooney, it was the world renowned singer to whom he made a promised to one day open a venue that would keep her kind of music... the music of Broadway and the Great American Songbook.... alive for future generations and true patrons of the arts. Holding true to that promise,  Sterling's Upstairs became the most critically acclaimed, award winning supper club of its kind in the greater Los Angeles area and has been recognized with numerous honors including the 2008 - 2011 Readers Choice Awards for Best Live Entertainment by readers of the Los Angeles Daily News; and has been an annual top five winner on MyFoxLA TV's Best of LA "Hot List" since 2007.  As part of the cultural landscape of Southern California, the Los Angeles Times dubbed Sterling's  "LA's cabaret destination".   Since its inception, over 350 headlining acts and 400 performers have appeared on its famous stage.

On March 18, 2012, Sterling's Upstairs closed its doors at Vitello's, only to reopen on April 1st as an all new, state-of-the-art supper club at The Federal Restaurant in North Hollywood's prestigious and trendy NoHo Arts Disctrict, home to the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences, The California Arts Institute, the historic El Portal Theatre, and numerous other theatres and live arts venues.   Legendary Broadway, film, TV, concert and recording star Lanie Kazan headlined the Grand Opening of Sterlng's Upstairs at The Federal.  A cast of five including Broadway's Melody Hollis and Kristofer McNeeley, Julie Garnye, Juliana Hansen and Jeffrey Christopher Todd were also featured in Take Me Along: The Songs of Bob Merrill... written, directed and produced by Bruce Kimmel and his longtime company Kritzerland Records.
